IMB Centre for Inflammation and Disease Research

Our objectives at CIDR are:

  • To develop new molecular tools and technologies to track inflammatory processes in vitro and in vivo.
  • To use these tools to interrogate animal models of inflammatory bowel disease and other inflammation-related diseases.
  • To validate roles of novel genes, proteins and pathways in driving dysregulated inflammation and disease.
  • To develop new drugs, and repurpose old drugs, to treat inflammatory diseases.
  • To form alliances with advocacy groups for specific diseases linked with unhealthy inflammatory responses.
  • To increase community awareness of the central role of inflammation in disease.
  • To engage with students and educate them on the importance of inflammation research.
